Do I really need to use a tanning lotion? Yes!! Indoor tanning lotions are specifically formulated to hydrate, condition and enhance Melanin production in the skin during UV exposure, resulting in a faster, darker, longer lasting tanning results and healthier skin!

When is the best time to apply tanning lotion? The best time to apply tanning lotion is right before your tanning session. This ensures maximum moisturization for better absorbtion and even distribution of light.

Can I use outdoor tanning lotions indoors? No!! Many outdoor lotions contain mineral oil or other ingredients that can damage the acrylic and tanning equipment. For best results everytime, only use professionally recommended tanning products.

How long will my tanning lotion last? The shelf life of most tanning products is 12 months. DO NOT store tanning products in your car - the temperature shift from hot to cold will affect the formula and shorten the shelf life.

Can I use my indoor tanning products outdoors? Yes, just be sure to apply an SPF lotion at the same time as you apply your indoor lotion. Most Indoor lotions do not contain SPF.

How do I decide which products to use? Any of the Sunrise Tanning Consultants will be more than happy to help you find the best lotion to achieve your desired results.

How can I prolong the life of my tan? Professional Tan extending body washes and lotions are designed to maintain the skin's optimum moisture level essential to longer lasting color. "Over the counter" products purchased at supermarkets and pharmacies can actually dry skin out over time. Ask any one of our Tanning Consultants to recommend a maintanence regimen.

What is "a tingle" ? Tingle products stimulate rapid circulation on the surface of the skin, creating a red, warming, tingling sensation of the skin. This reaction helps enhance the intensity and appearance of tan and is temporary (often lasting a few hours). Tingle products are not recommended for beginning tanners and those with sensitive skin. Tingles should NEVER be used on the face!

Mystic Tan Questions

How can I be sure I’m getting an Authentic Mystic Tan™ Experience? Only salons offering Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst in a Mystic Tan™ booth provide the Authentic Mystic Tan™ experience. Other salons choose to compromise this experience by putting other solutions in the Mystic Tan™ booth, however Sunrise Tanning uses only authentic Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst.

Are there ways to enhance the Mystic Tan™ results? To achieve the perfect sunless tan you should always follow two simple steps: Exfoliate and Hydrate . Follow these two steps the day of or the night before you tan:

• Step 1: Exfoliate your skin in bath or shower by massaging MysticReady™ Exfoliating Body Wash onto the skin with a washcloth or sponge. Concentrate on rough areas such as elbows, knees and ankles, then rinse clean. This removal of dead skin cells will give you a fresh, even surface to tan, which will increase the life and evenness of your Mystic Tan™.
• Step 2: Always hydrate your skin after exfoliation by using MysticLife™ moisturizing lotion. Applying lotion in between your Mystic Tan™ sessions will increase the life and luster of your tan. Avoid using lotion directly after your Mystic Tan™ session.

What should I wear in the Mystic Tan™ Booth? Most people wear nothing. However, if you’d be more comfortable wearing a bathing suit or underwear, be aware that the Tanning Myst may stain it so bring something you dont mind staining. The Insta-Color Bronzer™ we use in our BronzMyst™ is water-soluble and should wash out.

What happens if the Mystic Tan™ Myst gets in my eyes? Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst has been thoroughly tested by a third-party lab, and the results showed no eye or skin irritation. Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst has been used in over 20 million tanning sessions with no adverse reactions.

What happens if I inhale any of the Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst? While no one should purposely inhale or ingest the Mystic Tan™ Myst, it is known that DHA (the active tanning ingredient) is a non-hazardous compound that causes no adverse reaction in moderate quantities when applied topically or even ingested. DHA has been used as a diet supplement in sports nutrition and is non-carcinogenic. Testing has further shown that DHA is less toxic than aspirin, caffeine and even common table salt. Based on our research, the maximum amount of DHA that could accidentally be ingested or breathed during a one minute Mystic Tan™ sunless tanning session would be .05 milligrams (equivalent to less than one grain of common table salt). Ingesting this minimal amount of DHA should pose no health risk to the consumer.

Should I cover my hair while tanning in the Mystic Tan™ tanning booth? Many customers wear a disposable shower cap, provided by the salon, to keep Tanning Myst from getting into their hair. Other customers tan without covering their hair. The Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst does not penetrate the hair follicle. The Insta-Color Bronzer we use in our BronzMyst™ is water-soluble and will easily wash out.

Are there any optional precautions I can use with the Mystic Tan™ booth? When applying DHA sunless products in a spray or mist, it may be difficult to avoid exposure to eyes and lips or guard against accidental inhalation of the Tanning Myst. Mystic Tan™, Inc. and the FDA recommend that users cover the area of the eyes with standard UV tanning eyewear, protect the lips with lip balm, and use a nose filter to protect membranes in the nasal passages, as well as avoid inhaling or ingesting the product.

How do I towel off after my Mystic Tan™ session? The Tanning Myst applied in the Mystic Tan™ tanning booth is moist and very fine. Your skin will feel hydrated and nourished. Tiny droplets remaining on your arms or legs after the session are easily removed by toweling dry. Toweling off will not streak your tan, and any Tanning Myst that wipes onto the towel is excess and will not affect your tan.

How quickly can I get dressed after a Mystic Tan™ tanning session? Once you've towel dried, there's little chance of any bronzer or DHA getting on your clothes. If you perspire soon after your Mystic Tan™ tanning session, some of the bronzer may transfer to your clothing.

How long should I wait after a Mystic Tan™ tanning session before showering? To give the DHA enough time to fully set, we recommend waiting a minimum of 4-6 hours after tanning. Showering sooner may diminish the intensity of the tan. If you tanned using BronzMyst, the Insta-Color Bronzer will wash off in the shower, but the DHA that creates your longer-lasting tan will remain.

Does Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst have any smell after contact with my skin? Some people notice a slight starchy smell on their skin a few hours after a tanning session. This is simply the DHA reacting to proteins in your skin. You can diminish this odor by using MysticFresh™ body spray.

Will swimming affect my tan? Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water can fade the Mystic Tan™ results, cause possible streaking and will diminish the length of your tan. However, normal activities such as bathing, showering or physical activities will not affect the quality of the tan.

What is MagneTan technology? MagneTan™ technology is the patented process that uses the human body's own magnetic properties to attract Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst to every exposed surface of the skin. When authentic Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst passes through the spray nozzles in a Mystic Tan™ booth, the micro-particles of Tanning Myst become polarized, taking on the characteristics of "tiny magnets." These particles adhere evenly to the skin to create an even, natural-looking tan.

Will my skin look orange? 20 million tans can’t be wrong. That’s how many successful Mystic Tan™s there have been in just a few years. Before Mystic Tan™, most self-tanners were creams and lotions applied by hand. That meant inconsistent coverage. Too much lotion applied in one place left the skin looking orange. Not enough lotion left unattractive streaks. Hand held spray-on applicators tend to run and also cause streaking. MagneTan technology ensures that a uniform micro-spray of Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst covers the entire body in the exact amount required to produce a natural-looking tan.

If I tan in the Mystic Tan™ tanning booth, can I also tan in tanning beds and in the sun? Yes. There is nothing in the Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst that would prevent you from tanning in tanning beds or the sun. In fact, a number of customers have found that tanning with UV rays and the Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst actually gives them a better overall tan. If you plan to use a tanning bed and the Mystic Tan™ booth in the same day, we recommend that you use the tanning bed first. Remember, however, that the Mystic Tan™ tan does not give you any protection from UV rays.

I have fair skin and have never been able to tan. Will I look tan after a Mystic Tan™ tanning session? A great benefit of Mystic Tan™ is that it is perfect for individuals who can't or prefer not to tan conventionally.

Can I use the Mystic Tan™ booth if I am pregnant? We recommend consulting with your doctor before proceeding with a Mystic Tan™ tanning session.

Has anyone had an allergic reaction to Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst? The components we use in our Tanning Myst have been successfully used in cosmetics and food products for decades, and are proven safe for use on the skin. If you've had previous allergic reactions to self-tanning lotions or cosmetics, you may want to do a "patch test" first. Put a small amount of Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst on a small area of your skin to test for possible reactions.

What's in Mystic Tan™ Tanning Myst? All Mystic Tan™ tanning mysts contain the following natural ingredients:

• DHA - This is what produces a long-term tan. The use of DHA has been FDA-approved for decades as an external tanning agent. When applied, DHA reacts with proteins in the skin's superficial layer to form a golden brown color. Your skin begins to darken two to three hours after application and reaches its peak color within 24 hours. The color will gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun. To maintain optimal color, you'll want to tan every four to five days.
